Longleaf Partnership Council Meeting for Fall 2014
Building on the success of America’s Longleaf Restoration Initiative and its recent highlight on the national stage, the Longleaf Partnership Council will convene its semi-annual meeting in Mobile, Alabama this October 20-21, 2014. Meetings are held twice a year across the range to maximize participation opportunities by local partners. A variety of important topics will be discussed at the upcoming meeting, including the assessment and measurement of progress; collaboration within and among our significant geographic areas; technical and program updates for Council members; and looking ahead to the next five years.
The meeting will be held in conjunction with the 10th Biennial Longleaf Conference, 9th Annual Eastern Native Grass Symposium, and Prescribed Fire Council Gathering. The joint conference and symposium will be of interest to anyone managing or restoring longleaf pine ecosystems and the grasslands that occur across the eastern United States. In addition to a schedule of diverse speaker sessions, there will be a wide array of diversions for both conference attendees and guests. The Longleaf Alliance is co-hosting this year’s conference with the Eastern Native Grass Alliance.
The Longleaf Partnership Council is also celebrating five years of restoration progress with a reception and recognition ceremony from 6-8 pm on the evening of October 21st. The event will take place at the Renaissance Riverview Hotel – Preconvene II Atrium, and longleafers are invited to attend! Please join us to help celebrate the progress and promise of this coalition-driven effort! You can RSVP for this event by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
