November 2021 Longleaf Partnership Council Meeting

The Longleaf Partnership Council (LPC) gathered members, partners, and friends of longleaf to meet virtually on November 9, 2021, for the fourth quarterly meeting of 2021.  These regular meetings give LPC members and partners the chance to attend to the business needs of the LPC and discuss upcoming and ongoing activities in support of longleaf pine restoration to reach the eight-million-acre goal called for in The Range-wide Conservation Plan for Longleaf Pine.

The meeting’s agenda included a variety of subjects, informing attendees on ongoing projects and topics of interest:

• The Nature Conservancy’s report on ALRI as a model for Shared Stewardship, the evolution of ALRI, and its successful collaborative elements;
• The fourth and final iteration of Strategic Priorities and Actions for 2022-2024 and how it aligns with the Range-wide Conservation Plan moving towards 2025;
• An update from the Longleaf for All working group, including the barriers and recommendations document and ways for LPC members to engage with Longleaf for All; and
• A discussion on the value and specifics of a longleaf sustainability analysis, The Longleaf Resources Mapping Project.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Colette DeGarady of The Nature Conservancy officially took over as the next LPC Chair!  Chris Erwin will transition to Past-Chair and Carol Denhof of The Longleaf Alliance was confirmed as Chair-Elect for 2022.

The next LPC meeting to be held virtually on March 10^th.
